...was born and raised in the north-western suburbs of Melbourne. he was educated at St Bernard's College, Essendon where he was School Captain and Captain of the First Eighteen Football Team in his HSC year. He went on to complete a Diploma of Teaching and Graduate Diploma in Special Education. Simon worked as a Primary School Teacher for 15 years in a number of roles including physical education, technology and Vice Principal. As a current contributor to the West Australian Newspaper, Simon has also worked in television and radio, including a syndicated program for Pegasus Media Group. He is also a regular motivational guest speaker for government, sporting and corporate bodies. An outstanding sporting record with some 378 games and 575 goals for the Essendon Football Club between 1974 and 1992. Simon was VFL Players Association President from 1985 to 1989 and was also on the AFL Rules Committee. He is a State of Origin Selector for Victoria and is working as the specialist ruck coach Simon currently resides in Essendon with his wife Mary and their four children, Joshua, Julia, Yvette and Isaac.
