Alan Hopgood ... back to MANNET

hopgood…. is well known as a playwright (AND THE BIG MEN FLY); as a screenwriter (ALVIN PURPLE); for documentaries, (THEPROHPECIES OF NOSTRADAMUS) and as an actor (Dr Reed in BELLBIRD, Wally in PRISONER and Jack Lassiter in NEIGHBOURS).

In 1996, his personal story SURVIVING PROSTATE CANCER – ONE MAN'S JOURNEY was greeted with acclaim, as one of the first books to describe with frankness and honesty, what it is like to undergo surgery for prostate cancer.

Alan is a popular speaker and has frequently been asked to speak at Men's Health Nights, Conferences and Forums throughout Victoria.  He is appreciated not only for his disarming honesty, but above all, the comedy he has been able to find in his own experience.  He allows the audience to laugh along with him, and at the same time helps them to understand a subject which men, especially, are still finding difficult to discuss.

Alan has also written a play about men's health, intimacy and cancer, FOR BETTER, FOR WORSE, which premiered at Chapel Off Chapel, Prahran in November 1997 and has been touring inVictoria in 2000. FOR BETTER, FOR WORSE is also available as a video - look here
