Mr. Bernard J Denner BA :
Has developed, researched and facilitated a range of Community and Workplace Health Promotion programs in the areas of Men and Women, Workplace and Adolescent Health across 6 States and Territories and Canada. Developed and presented training and professional development sessions across range of professionals across Australia and Canada.
Of key significance is that he has been solely responsible for initiating, developing, marketing, and managing the Centre for Advancement of Men's Health (CAMH), a collaboration of the Men's Awareness Network (MAN) and Hepburn Health Service in 1995. CAMH has devoted its energies to identifying and resolving Community Health issues through community-based programs and services for men, women, and adolescents and in workplaces.
The model is now widely known as the MAN Model of Health Promotion.

Currently CAMH/Bernard is working with the General Practice Network NT Alice Springs as a Team member of a federally funded program to support Central Australian communities and Health Services. Bernard is the Chronic Health Educator supporting Doctors/Nurses with Point of Care Health Checks and Preventative Chronic Disease support. The program is also being conducted in St Helen’s Tasmania as part of their Healthy Communities project which also includes an Adolescent LifeSkill component for local schools. In 2010 these sessions will be in their 4th year supporting the Healthy Communities team and the 3rd year in Central Australia.
Previously CAMH in partnership with Hepburn Health Service and with the support of Point of Care Unit Flinders University SA conducted a Federally Funded Project to address issues that impact on males in EIGHT rural remote areas of Australia for Indigenous and Non Indigenous communities…’Rural Remote Men’s Health Awareness Project’.

Second visit to Canada developing programs in British Columbia for ‘truckies’, oil riggers and forestry workers in northern BC in 2007
Continued media focus on highlighting Men’s Health and lifting the profile of men’s health awareness.

MAN model – Men’s/Women’s Health Programs – 1995-2009 with 98 sessions averaging attendance of 125 participants
The MAN/CAMH Men’s Health Night started in Castlemaine in 1995 with over 220 men attending at the local golf course followed by a few nights around Vic and SA. Then the Daylesford men’s health night developed by MAN/CAMH for the ABC documentary ‘A problem with men’ became the turning point for MHN around the country. The model has now been adopted by a range of organizations here and overseas to develop the ‘health message’ to men. MEN’S HEALTH NIGHTS…have been conducted in every State & Territory in Australia and in British Columbia Canada in 2001 and 2007 also in recent times Women’s Health Nights…see website or email Bernard for feedback
Most MAN Model MHN nights have attracted up to 50% of local male population. In some areas hundreds have attended ongoing sessions based on feedback from the MHN.

Life Skills Program for Adolescents including ‘Going to the Big Smoke’
This program has been developed and presented by Bernard across Australia & in Canada. Over 2,500 students have attended sessions that support Resilience, Coping and Better Engagement with adults in the pathway to adulthood. The sessions are around Communication/Relationships/Sex/Drinking and valuing self and others.
