Conducted at Blair Athol Coal Mine Women's Health Session

The following information was obtained through a follow-up questionnaire administered to female workers and partners of male employees from the Blair Athol Coal Mine.

Significant findings include

  • 82% of respondents were mothers and of those 78% had children living at home
  • Approximately 88% of respondents, with children, rated the relationship with their children as eight (out of ten) or above. Similarly, 88% of these respondents perceived that their children would rate the relationship as seven (out of ten) or above
  • 100% of respondents rated their general level of health as seven (out of ten) or above, with 18% of these respondents rating themselves as a ten (out of ten)
  • Approximately 90% of respondents rated their general level of contentment as eight (out of ten) or above
  • The most important health areas to respondents included stress in the workplace (82%), exercise and fitness (82%), cancer (73%), wellbeing (73%) and heart disease (55%)
  • 100% of respondents had visited a GP in the last year, with the majority, 55%, visiting two to three times. Of these respondents 80% rated their last experience as good to very good
  • The most important health professional services to respondents were the hospital (80%), GP's (80%), counsellors (80%) and community health nurses (30%)
  • 80% of respondents indicated that they were more likely to visit the GP as a result of program
  • 82% of respondents reported that health and wellbeing was the most important issue to them, followed by their relationships and family (36%) and workplace (18%)
  • 100% of respondents indicated that the presenter related to their issues
  • Approximately 80% of respondents indicated that the session was informative
  • 91% of respondents indicated that they would like to attend more sessions in the future.
