Summary
Workplace Health Program Conducted
at an Educational College in Central Victoria
The following
information was obtained through a questionnaire and responses to Ten
Ways to a Healthy Heart questionnaire administered to employees attending
the Workplace Health Program.
Significant
findings include:
- 75% of participants
were aged 40 - 60 years
- 46% indicated they
had a family member between the ages of 55 - 65 who suffered a heart
attack or had undergone heart surgery
- Well over half
the respondents have "low" alcohol consumption (62%)
- Approximately
one third of the respondents have "medium" alcohol consumption
- Over half of the
respondents (58%) experience "moderate" levels of stress
- A significant 22%
of respondents experience "high" levels of stress
- Approximately 78%
of respondents have never smoked and only 8% currently smoke
- 94% found the Health
Screening valuable
- 46% indicated that
they would attend a doctor as a result of the screening
- 61% indicated that
they would make changes in regard to their health
- 72% indicated that
the Health Screening increased their health and heart disease awareness
- 91% indicated that
it was it helpful to have a health check and talk to a health professional
/ GP
- 61% indicated
that the program will have an impact on their general health & wellbeing.
